Artworks of Light: Chromawall:
A system of bubble fronted modules with internal led illumination. Fabulous and vibrant orchestrated colour sequences.
Wall hanging or recessed. A Colour Controller lets you select colour themes and display speeds.
Spec: Modules 430mm square x 140mm deep. Four polycarbonate “domes” comprise one module.
Each dome is lit by six 1 watt Luxeon leds. Colour controller and power supplies may be mounted behind the modules.
Aluminium frame with optional side panels. Very long life and low power consumption. Modules fit together to form larger shapes.
On site assembly. Each Chromawall is different from the next as they all have different colour patterns.
Colours may be polychromatic like the images here or limited to four different colours at any one time.
Comment: First shown at 100% Design in London in 1996 Chromawall was the first commercially available colour changing
art light system. In those days it used specially coloured filament lamps and had to be ventilated to stay cool. Chromawall rapidly
became my signature piece and joined the Cool Britannia set making appearances in the design fairs in Milan, Cologne, Frankfurt,
Paris, New York and LA. I could be found nearby at the odd party. Now I have re-designed the lighting elements to use leds, which
offer many advantages over the original lamps, but I would never change the curvy domed diffuser which adds depth and vibrancy
to the display (and people like to touch it !)
